About me
I’m a .NET programmer and web designer, born and raised in Yeppoon, Queensland, on the east coast of Australia. My family has been in Yeppoon one way or another since the early 1800’s, meaning that we’re some of the few residents that can truly claim to be locals. In 2008 I reluctantly moved to Rockhampton. In my spare time I alternate between renovating and programming, and in the rare moments when I’m not on the computer or hammering something together, I play some bad guitar, read hard science fiction and fantasy, cook, and listen to almost every genre of music dating from the 50’s to now (plus a bit from the near future).
Currently I’m employed at Capricorn Investment Partners, a financial planning company based in Rockhampton and Tamworth, NSW, as the IT manager, a glorious title which means little as I am in fact the entire IT department. Most of what I do is develop and maintain the in-house software systems. Before that I packed groceries and pushed trolleys between the odd IT job.
My platforms of choice are C# 3.5 (WinForms and ASP.NET MVC), SQL Server, CakePHP, MySQL, and jQuery.
In 2007 I married Carrie, another Yeppoon local. We are not otherwise related (I checked). This is continuing to be a mutually beneficial arrangement, which we will continue for the foreseeable future. Shared interests include reading, quirky medical and crime dramas, internet addiction, a hyperactive and often violent Persian-Ragdoll kitteh named Abi, and the odd S/F movie (Carrie will deny this).
